Xiaoran Chen provides social science analysis of AI, robots, and the future of work. Her research interest focuses on the effect of AI, robotics, and automation on labor markets. She recently was a Special Student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the Department of Economics. She has also assisted the China Gazetteer Project. The project’s goal is to digitalize Chinese county-level gazetteers and establish a socioeconomic database for researchers in Chinese studies. Meanwhile, Chen is carrying out research on technological disruption and labor markets in China, Southeast Asia, and Africa.
